The Lake Lanier Striper Fishing the past few weeks has been great and keeps getting better every day as we transition fully into the summer time pattern. We are catching good numbers of fish including stripers of all sizes & big spotted bass.
It’s been crazy I have been catching three pound stripers then boom a 12lb plus striper hits.
All on the same spot, also mixed with some of the biggest spotted bass I have ever seem.
The Capt. Mack Umbrella rig bite has been on fire down on the south end of the lake and landed so many extra fish over the past few weeks and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I’ve been putting out umbrella rigs 80 to 100 ft. back and pull between 2.7 to 3.5 MPH as I look around. You will see there are a few suspended fishing from 15 to 30 ft on deep banks and points in all the south end creeks.
As for live bait be sure to bring 4 doz. or more as you will fish through it all!!!! After I find the fish with Capt. Mack Umbrella rig’s I mark them. Then if they don't seem to be interested in the rig, I will turn around and drop live bait back over the spot. Fishing my down lines 25 to 30ft into that school has been the ticket.
Have Fun out there, and don't forget if you cant seem to figure it all out,
I will be happy to take you on a trip to teach you the particulars.
