The key to getting a striper on the south end has been Capt. Mack Umbrella rigs or planner bored /flat line trout. .
The Umbrella rig has been a great searching tool by allowing me to cover a lot of
water when searching for fish. Pulling the Umbrella rig 75 to 100ft behind the
boat looking for birds crashing the surface has been one way to find some good
fish over the open water but they are also stacked up on mid creek points and humps
As for the live bait bite you just have to pick a area and commit to it and believe
in the bite. The trout I have been using 17lb mono main line with a 15 lb fluorocarbon leader. Mixing things up when trolling live Trout with a combination of free lines, weighed free lines and planner boards has worked very well in getting good bites. I’ve been running my trout 50 feet behind the planner boards and 60 to 100 with the trout on the weighted and un-weighted flat lines.
