The Lake is down almost 3 feet and the water temperature is in the high 60’s.
Striper Fishing has been slow this month but should pick up once temps stabilize and we move into November and the lake turn over ends. This up and down weather pattern has really messed with the fish.
Fish are being caught lake wide and there has been a good start to the bite in
the rivers. Stripers are still not in a set pattern. We have caught fish on a
combination of lead core, down lines, umbrella rigs and limited top water. The
best bet is going out ready to rig for what you see on the graph. I have still
been fishing with herring and tried a few trout, but have as of yet have not
seen a lot of action on the trout.
Normally the top water bite is steady but I have seen a very limited top water bite but am looking forward to more top water as the water cools and the birds come in. Once the top water is in full swing, throwing 4in Sebile magic swimmer fast sinking along with Captain Mack’s 3/8oz super jig with a 3inch shad tail will work well.
As the Lanier continues to cool, look for the Stripers to start pushing into the mouths of the creeks and rivers up north. Fishing with trout and shad should start to pick up as the water gets colder.
Looking forward to a great November and the winter bite.
