We have caught Stripers and Spots on both Trout and Shad pulling both weighted lines and free lines. Depending on the weather, the Stripers are right off points or down 10-20ft over 40+ water in the middle to backs of the creeks.
This is the time of year you need to bring everything, planer boards, down lines and of course Captain Mack's umbrella rigs. Use your electronics, if the fish are high then planer boards and free lines are the way to go. If they are down deep, weighted free lines down lines and umbrella rigs work best.
