The Lake Lanier Striper fishing the past few weeks has been EXCELLENT! The “First Light First Bite” has been amazing! We had one day were we boated 12 Stripers in the 1st two hours. On most trips we have been going through 4-5 dozen bait. If you can find the fish in the morning you are in for an exciting time.
As shown by the graph, the Stripers are in 30-70 feet of water, down-line blue back herring 25-40 ft. has worked best. We have seen some breaking Stripers chasing bait to the surface and for these casting a McStick or Chicken Scratch Redfin have been productive. We also have had success with ½ oz Captain Mack Buck-tail jigs retrieved fast over the fish. The key to the Captain Mack buck-tails is to use them WITHOUT the plastic tails, just throw the feather jighead and if you feel a hit, give it a second till you feel the fish turn before trying to set the hook.
I also wanted to take a moment to welcome Johnny Outler to the Striper Quest Family. Johnny has a “boat load” of fishing experience and has been guiding the past few years on Lake Lanier. Besides Johhny’s fishing experience, he is just a nice guy to spend time on the lake with. When Johnny and I have some free time you will find us out on the lake fishing together. Johnny ran his 1st Striper Quest trip a few weeks ago and caught 4 Stripers and a few spots not a bad 1st Striper Quest day!
Remember to book you Striper Quest trip today! And if you are going to the Cumming 4th of July Parade you just might see us there with some awesome specials and give a-ways.
Below are just a few shots of what we have caught over the past week.
